WE MADE A DIFFERENCE
Despite the pessimism of some
Despite the contention that it was a done deal
Despite the arrogance of some
PARENTAL PRESSURE AND COMMONSENSE WON A SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT VICTORY ON THE 13th OF JULY
Bedfordshire County Council voted to retain the existing three tier educational system of Lower, Middle and Upper Schools and also voted to put in place an Action plan
“to achieve the objectives of substantial and sustained improvement in the performance of all Bedfordshire Schools and to achieve average Bedfordshire performance at least above the average performance level of our statistical neighbours at Key Stage 4 in the quickest time”
The full text of the resolution is available on this website.
Thanks must go to everyone, including County Councillors, who had the courage to stand up and make their views heard. To all those who in such a short space of time did the research and asked the questions that Councillors ought to have done. We learnt a lot by working together.
It is important that we all now work together to support our children and their schools over the next three years.
This is the first step in the next phase of our journey. We must not and will not be complacent over the holiday period and have already started to put together parent action teams. Talking to Councillors and county Officers. We have already made a difference and will continue to do so.
It shows that we care about the education of our children and their aspirations.
It shows we can make a difference. It shows that our views do matter and that we must be listened to.
Enjoy the break
The hard work starts again in September
